Amobee acquires AdJitsu, join forces to shape the future of mobile advertising

Amobee Acquires AdJitsu, Leading 3D Mobile Advertising Business to enhance its leadership in delivering immersive mobile ads globally.

Today marked an important event which will impact and shape the future of mobile display advertising and benefits consumers, publishers and brands worldwide. This is certainly a memorable day for the Cooliris team as they shared with us the news regarding AdJitsu, their standalone business unit for 3D advertising: AdJitsu has been acquired by Amobee, which was earlier acquired by SingTel.

Amobee, the company defining mobile advertising, will leverage AdJitsu’s cutting-edge technology to accelerate the innovation of highly interactive and spectacular 3D mobile ads. So what exactly is the “cutting-edge technology” which attracted the attention of the Palo Alto based Amobee? With AdJitsu’s technology and product suite, Amobee will collaborate with ad networks, premium publishers, brands and agencies and is now able create highly engaging and differentiated 3D mobile ad units. Mobile users can tap on the ad and engage with 3D models of advertisers’ products with unmatched interactivity, speed and animation. Furthermore, AdJitsu’s technology has the unique ability to transform existing 2D ad assets into interactive 3D campaigns, which result in impressive click through rates and higher revenues for advertisers and publishers.

Let’s put the stats into context: AdJitsu first Samsung 3D ads yielded 3.5 – 5% Click Through Rate (CTR), 90 seconds spent in the ads and over 10% of users click out to Samsung’s website from the ad. As compared to traditional mobile banner ads, which has a typical CTR of  less than 1%, this means an amazing improvement of 250% – 400%.

We also spoke to the team regarding the acquisition:

With the acquisition, what’s next for Adjitsu?
Cooliris has built a unique technology and product proposition around AdJitsu’s immersive mobile advertising. However, that team is only seven people and we find it hard to scale. The acquisition by Amobee and SingTel, with their reach and customers, will help AdJitsu’s unique technology gain the scale to meet market demands on a global level. This will allow Cooliris to double down on our consumer facing service, Liveshare, where we continue to drive that same innovation around communication and media sharing.

What does the acquisition by Amobee (a US based company) mean to the South East Asia market?
Great question! Again AdJitsu’s technology is extremely unique, one that even exceeds iAds and Apple, we hope to bring this Silicon Valley innovation to the South East Asia (and Asian) markets with Amobee and SingTel. We see Asia as an important market with millions of mobile eyeballs here and innovative technology from Silicon Valley is no longer exclusive to Silicon Valley, and brought straight into Asia – with Amobee and SingTel helping us.

We at e27 want to congratulate Cooliris for the successful exit of AdJitsu, and are certainly happy for the team! We also did a post on the internal memo by Cooliris’ CEO on the acquisition and you can check it out here.
