Bit about the site
Saregama has been in the business for many long years and has a very good collection of records. However, the user experience on the site isn’t all that great. We found that the signup is a bit buggy. And the site is simply too cluttered, making navigation and discovery tough. It starts playing tracks on its own as soon as you visit the site. Clicking on tabs reloads the entire page and the track starts playing again, event if you have paused it.
You’d be desperately looking for the buy button somewhere close to the track you want to own. But you will see a “select plan” button. Once you figure out which song you want to buy, you need to subscribe to a plan and buy credits. There are four plans, Silver, Gold, Platinum and Red Carpet priced at Rs 99 (12 songs/ year), Rs 299 (40 songs/ year), Rs 499 (80 songs/ year) and Rs 999 (200 songs/ year) respectively. Once you select the plan, it takes you the usual payment process. Each time you buy a song, an amount is deducted from your subscription.
Do give the site a spin and let us know what you think.
